Navajo breaks ground on first Arizona casino
March 31, 2011
TWIN ARROWS, Ariz. (AP) – The Navajo Nation broke ground March 21 on a $150 million casino project along Interstate 40 east of Flagstaff.
The first phase of construction on the Twin Arrows casino is set to begin next month. Tribal officials have planned a July 1, 2012 opening.
The casino is the tribe’s first in Arizona. Plans call for a hotel, conference center, spa and golf course at the site.
Navajo President Ben Shelly says tribal officials will hold a job fair to fill the positions. The tribe has a Navajo preference in employment.
He says the tribe will rely on county officials for law enforcement and fire protection.
About 350 people attended March 21′s groundbreaking ceremony.
The tribe opened its first casino east of Gallup, N.M., in 2008.

Gaming machines, cash seized by police
March 31, 2011
GARDEN GROVE – A multijurisdictional sweep in businesses throughout Garden Grove and Westminster netted more than 200 illegal gaming machines and more than $145,000 in cash, police said.
In a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Garden Grove police Lt. Jeff Nightengale said the seizures were the result of a three-month investigation by eight police departments, the California Department of Justice, California Franchise Tax Board and the FBI.
The seizures took place at more than 20 cafes, bars and pools halls, with 23 people arrested on misdemeanor charges of possessing illegal gaming machines.
“We’ve seen an uptick in the different crimes associated with illegal gambling,” Nightengale said when asked why the businesses were being investigated.
“We’re finding that the typical client that frequents places like these are career criminals or parolees.”
As a masked undercover detective demonstrated with a confiscated machine, Nightengale said the machines appeared to be legal games like Tetris.
When patrons pushed a certain button on the console several times, the illegal blackjack and poker games would appear.
“Credits are 25 cents, and you can play blackjack for up to $50 per hand,” Nightengale said. “The businesses would pay you out at the end of the night, just like in Las Vegas.”
When police came to inspect businesses, Nightengale said owners had a switch that would reset the games back to the legal façade.
Each machine could hold $3,000 to $5,000. Nightengale said the $145,000 seized was part of the money used to pay customers at the end of the night.
“Each machine has to be opened, and all the money needs to be counted,” Nightengale said. “It could be tens of thousands of dollars collected.”
Nightengale said the next step is to find out where the machines were being manufactured.
“Mostly, it seems like it is smaller businesses that are converting these machines,” Nightengale said.
The investigation is continuing. The businesses were not shut down, Nightengale said.
“As far as we know, the businesses have reopened today,” Nightengale said. “We have not gone back out to see if new machines have replaced the old machines.”

WinADayCasino's Game of the Month Has $165900 Jackpot Winner
March 29, 2011
A Canadian online slots player has won a $165,900 progressive jackpot at WinADayCasino.com playing the Tropical Treat slot machine with free spins. Monthly free contest draw for casino bonus this week.
LONDON, ENGLAND, March 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ — A Canadian online slots player has won a $165,900 progressive jackpot at WinADayCasino.com. Sylvia M., known as POWERBALL on the site, won the massive jackpot playing the Tropical Treat slot machine, one of the online casino’s newest flash technology games with enhanced full-screen graphics and rich sound effects.
“The progressive jackpot can be won on any of our online slots,” said Michael Hilary, manager of the slots and video poker site. “But since it’s been the Game of the Month for March and has been played more than usual over the last few weeks, I guess it’s not surprising that’s where this latest jackpot was won.”
“Actually, ever since it launched last month I’ve been mostly playing the newest game, Busted,” said the jackpot winner who has been playing regularly at WinADay since 2009. “I love the comic strip characters and the Bonus Game where you choose whether you’re a cop or a robber keeps you playing even longer. But I saw Tropical Treat was the game of the month so I figured, why not?”
As the Game of the Month, every 500 spins on Tropical Treat during March earns one ticket in a random draw at the end of the month. One lucky player will win a $250 bonus, another lucky player will win a $100 casino bonus, and 3 lucky players will get a $50 bonus each. (April’s Game of the Month will be Jackpot Jinni) At the end of the year, there will be a draw for a vacation worth $2000. But POWERBALL won’t have to wait until then for her tropical treat.
“I want to do something special for my two daughters,” she told the WinADay Customer Service agent that arranged her immediate payout. “I think I’ll invest a lot of it in my home. I’ve been wanting to renovate my kitchen but it’s so expensive. I guess this is the time to do it!”
To qualify for the huge jackpot pay out, POWERBALL got five Gold Compass symbols with a total bet of at least $5.
“I figured, the jackpot hasn’t been won for a couple of months. And every few weeks when it gets over $150,000 you just know it’s going to be won any minute. That’s when I make a point of betting enough to qualify for the jackpot. That’s my little slots strategy and it sure worked this time!”
Tropical Treat is a 50-payline slot machine with free spins and amazing fun-in-the-sun video graphics. Animated butterflies flutter across the screen as the bet amount is selected and the number of paylines to be played is chosen with buttons on a sand castle.
Busted is a retro comic book-style cops and robbers adventure with a spine-tingling Bonus Game. It’s three games in one: a classic 17 pay line video slot, a Double Up round and a Cops and Robbers bonus game.
WinADay’s innovative games designers are putting the finishing touches on yet another new game. The new fairground-themed game will be available in April.

Best St. Patrick's Day iPhone apps

Onkyo has developed a remote interactive (RI) dock that interfaces Apple’s iPod with Onkyo receivers and audio-video systems.
The dock is scheduled for release mid-2005 in the U.S., Europe and Japan, with subsequent release in other regions where Onkyo products are available.
The RI dock provides compatibility between specified iPod models and many of the Onkyo products (as many as five million worldwide) produced over the past 10 years. Users of both the iPod and Onkyo products will benefit from even greater flexibility with—and enjoyment of—digital media, as well as superior audio performance.
Remote Interactive Dock Continues Revolution in Cross-Operability In recent years, the range of audio-video products on the market has widened significantly. Audio systems, home theater systems, personal computers and portable devices have proliferated, among which there is now a great deal of cross-operability. Many people assemble systems with components from a variety of manufacturers, making universal compatibility and operability ever more vital.
For more than 10 years, most Onkyo products have been built with remote interactive (RI) capability, enabling cross-operability between Onkyo products and those of other manufacturers through the use of a single remote control. Also, remote interactivity enables the integrated start-up of separate components, as well as offering a Direct Change function that automatically switches the input to the amplifier section (of the receiver or audio system) during playback. Even when Onkyo components are purchased separately, they can be combined effectively into a smooth-functioning system. With unsurpassed longevity among interface systems, remote interactivity continues to deliver the convenience of fully integrated operability.
The Remote Interactive Dock: A Summary The Remote Interactive Dock makes it possible to easily link an Onkyo audio-video system with the iPod. The dock features Onkyo’s remote Interactive (RI) functionality, and it can be used as a mini-stand to recharge the iPod.
A remote control can be used to operate the iPod interactively via an interface between the iPod and an RI-equipped Onkyo system. The dock also offers additional operability, significantly improving the user’s control of the entire integrated system.
Specific details regarding product design and use will be announced in due course. The product is scheduled for release mid-2005 in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Japan, with subsequent release in other regions where Onkyo products are available.
We will post pictures when a specific model is announced.
